The Valley and Canyon of the Colca are laced by a series of small trails which have been used for many years connecting the people and the villages here. Many of these paths take to us to old and idyllic settlements which only wait to be discovered. And so we have called these historic trails the Colca Trek. Some of them are ancient, others can be hiked during several days, thus visiting many scenic places.

MOUNTAIN BIKE:: The Valley of the Colca river harbors a network of trails dating back to the pre-Inca Collawuas, where exciting trips on mountain bikes await us. Racing downhill from almost 5,000 meters of elevation thrills and excites you incredibly, especially on our excellent mountain bicycles. Well suited for such routes, we provide well maintained systems featuring high-level gears, advanced suspension and top-class brakes. Our guides know all these routes, and for unlikely emergency cases they are versed in mechnical first aid, carrying a full set of repair tools.

TREKKING:Many of the ancient Collawuan trails are still used in present times by the locals, passing secluded villages, opening scenic landscapes of unmatched beauty to us, descending to the bottom of the Colca Canyon, crossing the river on suspension bridges.
We have selected some of these Collawuan trails to visit areas of unrivaled beauty. Education...

The history, the flora and fauna of the Province of Arequipa is interesting and exciting. During millenia of adaption plants and animals are able to grow in the geographically unique desertal coast as well as on montains reaching more than 6,000 meters of elevation, others adapted to canyons and valleys which are almost impossible to reach, scorched by tormenting sunshine all day, and you will forget the trouble of reaching there once you view them. Within several tours we show you our majestic flora and fauna, from the discovery trip on foot to the convenience and leisure excursion in motorized vehicles.

Watching the slopes of the Colca Canyon, we easily distinguish different layers of lava and sedimentary rocks, formed in millions of years. Blended nicely into this habitat we find towns of descendants of ancient civilizations like the Collaguas and the Cabanas, old cultures predating even the Incas, who have adapted to this unique landscape during several centuries. We will provide more detailled information about them on our trips.

To appreciate and understand traditions and customs in the Valley of the Colca river requires respect for its partially harsh nature as well as for its different inhabitants with their typical dresses and for its flora and fauna. We bring you closer to all this, with the responsibility to not disturb, to keep it intact for future generations. Our Guides all know the Colca area very well, many times having roamed the ancient pathways there from village to village, having discovered sites only Zarate Adventues will be able to reveal you. Our Guides are either certified Mountain Guides or Tourist Guides, who frequently extend their knowledge attending courses about flora and fauna, about the history and archeology in our region. All of our staff is versed in first aid, to leave you safely in our hands.
